Upper School Community Service Day

Brunswick’s Annual Community Service Day is a way for the Upper School students to give back to their community by lending a helping hand at day care and community centers, senior living facilities, and animal shelters throughout Fairfield and Westchester counties. What: Great photo opps!

When: Friday, April 27, 2011 – activities at most of the locations begin at 8:30 a.m.

Where: Day care centers, senior and medical facilities, and schools for special needs in Fairchester and Westchester counties.

Some of the scheduled activities include:

  • Midnight Run: hand out clothes & food to NYC homeless.
  • Cerebral Palsy of Westchester (Rye Brook): work with patients
  • Nathaniel Witherell Rehabilitation/Nursing Center (Greenwich): visit with the elderly
  • Mothers for Others (Greenwich): help organize baby items for distribution
  • Greenwich Library: help re-organize book shelves
  • Adopt-A-Dog (Armonk, NY) and Wolf Conservancy (South Salem, NY): do variety of projects
  • Assist teachers in classrooms at Waterside School (Stamford), Edenwald Children’s Residential Center (Pleasantville, NY), Family Centers at Armstrong Court and
  • Arch Street (Greenwich) and Anchor Academy (Norwalk, CT)
  • Yard work and spruce up at Edenwald Children’s Residential Center, Greenwich Boys and Girls Club, Greenwich YMCA, Greenwich Green & Clean at Greenwich Point Park and Port Chester Head Start.

Brunswick Ice Hockey in Harlem Club

The Brunswick Ice Hockey In Harlem Club will begin collecting donations on Monday, January 9, 2012. Ice Hockey in Harlem is a non-profit organization that uses hockey to promote achievement in academics and athletics, and to develop character in inner city kids. All types of used hockey equipment in good condition is needed for these kids.

A bin to collect equipment will be placed by the lower entrance to the Sampson Field House next to the Hartong Rink. Please donate any available equipment you may have. If you are unable to deliver it to King St., or if you have any other questions regarding Ice Hockey in Harlem, please contact Travis Buck at jbuck@brunswickschool.org
